Adelmo Cervi is a restless man, a left-wing militant, engaged in political activities against society’s injustices and inequalities. He is also a man marked by a tragic destiny, since he lost his partisan father and uncles, who were murdered all together by Fascists in 1943. The seven Cervi brothers are a myth of Italian Resistance and Adelmo had to deal with that myth all his life. But who were the seven partisan Cervi, his seven fathers? And who was his father Aldo? These are the question that leads Adelmo's research, a journey back to the past to find answers beyond the myth and look for his father as a partisan who fought the dictatorship, but also as a man with his work, affections, hopes. Adelmo's journey is therefore marked by a double look: on the one hand that of a child chasing his father who is no longer there, trying to understand who he was, and on the other hand that of the adult Adelmo, who finds in his own political and social commitment the inevitable sign of his father’s presence. Because, after all, every search leads to finding ourselves.
