A double portrait, a dialogue between two great photographers, father and son: Mimmo and Francesco Jodice. It begins with family photographs, includes previously unpublished interviews conducted over the years, and retraces two extraordinary artistic journeys that also recount the history of our country, and beyond: Mimmo documenting the 1973 cholera outbreak in Naples and the 1980 Irpinia earthquake; Francesco going in search of the hikikomori of Japan and his travels in the American Far West. Their photography never fails to demonstrate a social commitment as lucid as it can be challenging; highlighting the transformation of anthropological landscapes without forgetting what Mimmo calls "good form"; innovatively engaging with the art of the past, rendering it contemporary.

Director's note

I felt the need to explore a theme rarely addressed as comprehensively as it ought to be: generational transition in art. Photography becomes a platform for dialogue and exchange between two extraordinary figures of Italian culture: father and son, Mimmo and Francesco Jodice. I was interested in narrating not only their artistic experience, but the human relationship that sustains and permeates it. The meeting of two worldviews and two ways of understanding photography is the heart of this film. By contrasting their voices and works a dual perspective is born, capable of transforming their art into a shared space: not to capture reality, but to evoke internal time and the invisible, making the viewer a participant through the act of looking and interpreting.
