July 1943, Gela.
June 1944, Normandy.
Two landings, one year apart, change the fate of Europe.
In June 2025, six students and a teacher leave their school in Gela, Sicily, to travel to Normandy for a school exchange with a high school in Caen and to attend the D-Day commemorations. What they imagine as a simple trip abroad and a chance to meet peers soon becomes a deeper journey of discovery.
Encountering a way of preserving and telling the memory of war that is different from their own, the students begin to look not only at History but also at their own city with new eyes. Through places, testimonies, and conversations, they begin to understand what war truly means and how memory continues to shape the present.
A journey of human and civic growth that transforms their perspective.

Director’s statement

This film was born from the desire to observe History through the eyes of those who encounter it along their path. By following six students traveling from Gela to Normandy, the film brings together different memories of the same war. The direction favors listening and observation, allowing space for the students’ emotions, doubts, and inner transformations. The film seeks to portray an experience of personal and civic formation in which the past becomes not only something to study, but a lens through which to question the present.
