Between the late 1980s and the 1990s, first in Gabicce and later in Misano, something Italy had never seen before was born: first the Ethos Mama Club, then Echoes. The club that placed the Riviera at the center of international club culture.
One Night in Echoes tells the story of how a group of visionary young people brought house music to a country that still had no idea what it was, inviting legendary African American DJs such as Tony Humphries, Frankie Knuckles, and Kerri Chandler to Italy for the very first time, treating them like masters long before they became internationally famous.
On the dance floor, everyone danced together: Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, and Monica Bellucci mingled with athletes, factory workers, drag queens, and travelers arriving from all over Europe for that music, for that feeling impossible to forget.
Through the testimonies of Kerri Chandler, DJ Ralf, Ricky Montanari, Flavio Vecchi, Maurizio Monti, and many others, the documentary brings back the portrait of an era: that brief and blazing season when the Riviera truly became the center of the world.
