Giorgio Bazzega is two years old when, on December 15, 1976, his father is killed by Walter Alasia, a young member of the Red Brigades, who is himself shot dead in the gunfight that follows. As Giorgio grows up, that loss, never truly understood, becomes a deep wound, which during adolescence turns into anger, violence, and a desire for revenge. At the height of a self-destructive path marked by pain and hatred, Giorgio comes into contact with the group The Encounter, an experience inspired by the principles of restorative justice, where victims and perpetrators of the political violence try to sit face to face. Thus begins an unexpected journey for him, made of listening, revelations, and impossible encounters, in which the humanity of the other slowly opens a path toward transformation. Through Giorgio’s story, the film revisits the still-open wounds left by the political violence of Italy’s Years of Lead, showing how mutual recognition can become the first step toward a possible healing, both personal and collective.
