In the heart of Basilicata, Nothing But the Wind depicts the daily lives of farmers and shepherds in the province of Potenza, like Incoronata and her son Giovanni, caught between tradition and contemporary change. Incoronata, 75 years old, remains active on the farm and embodies the silent resistance of a disappearing world. Around her, a network of relationships sustains a rural community struggling against abandonment.
Dominating the landscape are the wind turbines, the new masters of the territory: they move in groups, moan with the wind, flash at night, and claim the land. Like humans, they too suffer, age, and die, leaving behind rusty cemeteries among the inaccessible mountains.
