In the mountains bordering the Vajont area in the early twentieth century, hundreds of women travelled long distances on foot, pushing wooden carts towards the plains and the cities: they were the “sedonere”, itinerant sellers out of necessity. Through the last living testimonies, Fora pal Mont reconstructs this experience of women’s work, hardship and autonomy, long left at the margins of official memory. A concrete and largely unconscious form of emancipation, capable of challenging the boundaries of a patriarchal society and bringing a new outlook on the world back into the mountains.
