Mara is an ex-actress who had an enormously successful in her career and who has just ended an affair with promising film director Giacomo. She decides to start a new career in screenwriting and enters a contest to win the funds for the production of a film.
Encouraged by Dario, Mara starts writing, but her concentration is always interrupted by the sudden and intruding visits or tragicomical phone calls from her friends Monica, Tazi, and Vera. Mara listens to them and offers solidarity and support, trying to be patient in front of their trivial worries. Time passes by and Mara's creativity and tolerance are running out.
The three women's stories about their husbands or lovers, their private matters that are constantly showered onto Mara, lead the aspirant writer to a hazardous decision: she will write a movie that tells of her friends world which is filled by hypocrisy, contradictions and frailty. It's a bitter, mischievous comedy.
