Chiara and Nanni married as adolescents and soon became the parents of twins. Their love enables them to face all sorts of difficulties with dignity but their harmony shatters when Chiara discovers Nanni with another woman. There has been nothing physical between the two but Chiara feels betrayed and throws Nanni out of their home and they begin painful and separate existences.
