A familial tale, set in Alexandria (Egypt) between 1967 and the Six-Day War, and the late Eighties. Ben, the head of the family is a rich non-practising Jew who has settled in Alexandria. He is married to a calm Italian woman called Anna whose sister, Matilde, the widow of an Englishman is the energetic heart and soul of the family. Bruno, their cousin, is shy man who lives in Germany and deals with the family's investments.
The story takes place against the background of the Yom Kippur War, a turning point in the family's and the world's history.
