A small town in Southern Italy immersed in sea colours and the summer sun. Two youths, Tonino and Maddalena, are bound by a pure and unconditioned love. Maddalena’s rare and carefree beauty, however, excites the jealousy of her cousin Teresa, the daughter of a powerful man who got rich in the fishing trade. Teresa, obsessively discontent with her physical appearance, feels crushed by the comparison with her cousin Maddalena. And so she will try in all possible ways to get Tonino, her handsome fiancé, away from her. And so in order to change the destiny of the two lovers and, above all, to gain control of the young man’s mind and heart, Teresa will even have recourse to the occult arts of the village sorceress. But it will be the son of the sorceress herself, Angelantonio, a down-at-the-heels con man who will manage despite himself to unravel the thick web of intrigue woven by Teresa….
