Rome, 1933: Sarah, a gorgeous American lady married with a rich entrepreneur, falls in love with Guido, a young engineer. They begin a passionate relationship that involves Sarah so much that she is ready to break up her marriage. But suddenly Guido leaves her and disappears. Sarah is shocked and hires a detective to find out whether Guido has met another woman. The truth is totally different: Guido is the leader of an Anti-fascist group, he has been arrested and sent to exile to the island of Ventotene. Despite her high social class, Sarah tries to do everything to break the law and to be sent to exile too. Finally she will meet Guido again. . .
