A stranger kidnaps an American tourist in Rome. Then the police are sent a challenge by email. A mysterious individual, who calls himself “the card player” confirms he’s the kidnapper, giving concrete proof, and challenges the police to play video poker in a chat room.
The stake is the life of the disappeared tourist.

After the rebuff from the Police, the card player kills the girl. Live. He films the victim with a Webcam and sends out the images on the internet.
This sparks off a manhunt, involving Anna, a young inspector, John, an American policeman who worked at the USA embassy in Rome, and an anti-hijack team.
The investigations lead to nothing….
The challenge becomes ever more frenetic, the serial killer on one side, the police on the other, and the unfortunate victims in the middle……
