The story is set in Turin in 1938. It is based around the meeting between an old Sicilian Greek scholar and a young journalist from Palermo, who start up a dialogue/argument. Thus starts a psychological duel between the two generations, a debate about life and pleasure, about beauty as an absolute requisite for knowledge. The discussions create a vibrant tension that will lead to a red-hot confession.
The old Hellenist tells his young friend the details of an unusual and incredible love story. It happened on the seashore many years ago, in a Sicily that was still inextricably linked to the sensual myth of its captivating nature.
Based on the story "Lighea" by Giuseppe Tomasi Di Lampedusa.
