Milan, a morning fog.
Franco late, as usual, at the streetcar stop. Minor details catch his attention: there is something strange around him, but what is it?
On the streetcar a young man asks Franco information and he replies to him in English, although he is absolutely Italian. Everyone this morning speaks English. The announcer on the streetcar is in English, the posters are in English: from now on English is the official language according to the new ECC law, established all around Europe. Franco was ‘distracted’, he had forgotten it, or he had misunderstood.
