Accompanied by the eponymous passage from Mozart’s Requiem, the animation is made from anatomical sections of the bodies of a man and woman, digitalized by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (Visible Human Project). In the animation, the movement of the cutaway view makes the fluids and tissue come alive. Often obtained from oblique cutaway views, the images give rise to metamorphical sequences in which the human physiognomy remains largely hidden, with results bordering between abstraction and figurative references.
