In a small village in the Val d’Aosta a retired couple, married for fifty-three years, share a passion for mountain cooking. Together they grow potatoes and beans and collect wild herbs and chestnuts in the surrounding forest. They have passed on their love of dishes that are at once both simple and creative to their grandchildren, Paul and Sofia, who take part in collecting the ingredients and preparing the food. Joseph Péaquin shows how the relationship we have with cooking and food reflects our relationship with the world around us, as well as our dealings with other people and our own identity.
