The second part of his uncompleted loose trilogy is the story of fictitious director A, who decides to cinematize his parents’ lives, Greek immigrants Eleni and Spyros. Their story is inherently connected to the major events of modern history. The Second World War sends Spyros to the United States and Eleni to the Soviet Union. Soon after comes the death of Stalin, the war in Vietnam and other tides of events that irrepressibly push the central characters across the geopolitical map of the latter half of the 20th century, as well as across the landscape of their own destinies. All of that leads to a visit to Berlin after the fall of the Wall and the crucial denouement. In his latest historical fresco, the director once again relied on help from his close co-workers, including cameraman Andreas Sinanos and music composer Eleni Karaindrou.
