Is it still possible today to plan a documentary on Fabrizio De Andrè that breaches the proverbial reticence surrounding the "Italian Bob Dylan"? Television journalist Teresa Marchesi has succeeded in this task without resorting to hyperbole, drawing on the singer-songwriter’s private archive, in agreement with his family. What emerges is a totally fresh, fully-rounded portrait where De Andrè does most of the talking, speaking about his artistic experience and life with a hitherto unseen candour, interspersed with new recordings of tracks performed live, television appearances and small gems like the emotion shown by Battiato, a young De Andrè performing a Brassens cover and showman Fiorello improvising the song “Bocca di rosa”.
