Carlino Vigetti is forced by his parents, who are poor farmers, to marry one of the two unattractive daughters of their rich employer. But when the young man meets Francesca, the step-sister of the two spinsters, he loses his head and falls desperately in love with her. They will finally get married, notwithstanding the opposition of Francesca's father, after a chain of comic, dramatic and paradoxical events.
