In the run up to a new tourist season, the Hotel Joule is being reorganized and the hotel staff is brought up to the full complement with the hiring of a young manager, Miss Ambra. Full of high expectations, the woman accepts the job as her crowning achievement and enthusiastically devotes herself to the upcoming opening. Team work is rewarded with the satisfaction of all. Miss Ambra, totally absorbed in her role, won’t allow herself any leisure, discharging her duties with rigour and haughtiness. In the long run, her intransigence and obsessive perfectionism, in addition to alienating her colleagues and losing their sympathy, lead her to take over all the jobs of the entire hotel, until she loses the boundaries of her own identity, confusing her role with that of the other employees, desiring to replace them, pushed and pulled by an overwhelming vacuum.
