Ermanno Olmi, one of the biggest maestros of European cinema, has just celebrated his 80th Birthday. The film, shot in Bari, on the set of Il villaggio di cartone follows the long preparation that takes place completely inside the Palazzetto dello Sport PalaFlorio, where the Church in which much of the film takes place is reconstructed. In this phase of the work, while technicians, carpenters and painters bring to life slowly a spectacular and original location, whole days are taken up with casting.
