Livorno, summer of 1984. In Amedeo Modigliani’s hometown, well-known for the sharp irony of its locals, the innocent joke of three young students turns out to be the hoax of the century and turns the entire art world upside down. In a single night, they carve “Modi-like” heads with an electric drill. The following day, critics and art historians are all raving about this exceptional discovery, which according to them sheds new light on the “maestro’s” work. Word spreads, attracting floods of visitors, as well as TV channels, from all over the world.
