Kiko is a teenage boy, son of Filipino mother, Marilou, and orphaned of an Italian father.
They live in Friuli with Ennio, the new mother's partner, who recruits and exploits illegal workers. Kiko goes to school, but at the same time - to help support the family - is forced to work in construction sites of Ennio.
He feels to belong to a lower caste: his Asian origin sometimes exposes him to racism of older school mates.
There is only one place where Kiko dreams: an old abandoned bus in a landfill that the boy has turned into his hut.
Suddenly his fate seems to change: an old friend of his father, Ettore, is looking for Kiko and wants to be for him a sort of tutor.
After overcoming the initial distrust, Ettore gives to the boy elements for a knowledge radically different from the one proposed by the school. The influence of Ettore is powerful enough to give Kiko finally the strength to rebel.
Until things get complicated again...
