After Baarìa Giuseppe Tornatore continues his reconnaissance of his own identity, opening with The Best Offer, a new phase. The documentary, relying on the early super-8 footage by the Sicilian director, images from his films and the words of those who have worked with him over the years (Tim Roth, Sergio Castellitto, Monica Bellucci, Ksenya Rappoport, Ennio Morricone), posits itself as interstitial between two films, bearing witness to the “continuous renascence” of an author who puts himself on the line in a constant expressive regeneration process. Most significant of all is a lengthy interview with Giuseppe Tornatore who talks about himself as a man and as an artist..
