Luca is ten years old and lives alone with his father. The two share an intense relationship but there is something that makes Luca’s life different from that of the other children his age: his father has Alzheimer’s. After days of moments of great tension and affectionate complicity, the two are forced to part.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES
“Luca’s story was inspired in the heat of the moment by an episode of lived life: the vicious progression of an illness and how it can dramatically make roles change; a kid, who has to parent his own father, who has turned into a child. The story was so heartwarming, verging on irresponsible. Since we lacked direct experience, what really pushed us was the pleasure of trying to tell a story, attempting (not without perils) to capture and convey our feelings when we first heard the story from Martina Manca. Meeting Laurent, the kid who could make it possible, did the rest.”
