The film tells, with a visionary approach, about a contemporary Hell where 20 damned, non-professional actors from L’Aquila, are imprisoned while a presence wonders through the city, now silent and abandoned. This presence is a very human angel that sometimes consoles and sometimes is cruel. It’s a conscious angel inspired by the Duino Elegies of R. M. Rilke. While wondering through the destroyed city, the angel helps us to have a different vision and brings a new perspective.
DIRECTOR'S NOTES
"The inhabitants of L’Aquila are living in a particular state of mind and the deepest drama is 'the supposed normality' that is there 4 years after the earthquake when nothing or very little has really been done to reconstruct the city and the trauma of its inhabitants: this is not civilized, it is hellish."
