On the run from an abusive husband, Anna (Margherita Buy) and her son Valerio (Andrea Pittorino) are welcomed in Torino at the home of Carla (Valeria Golino), a theater actress and long-time friend of Anna. The two try to adapt to their new lives full of incomprehension and difficulties, but with the help of Carla and unexpectedly Mathieu (Bruno Todeschini), a French restaurateur who lives in the neighborhood, they find the strength to start again.
La vita possibile is a film about hope, the strength of women, the ability to restart your life again and again. Anna and Valerio flee from a man who destroyed their love with his hands, and who transformed his son into a closed, fragile boy full of resentment. Anna could have become a news article, one among many, a woman’s broken body piled on top of all the hundreds of similar women murdered every day, every year, in our homes and on our streets. Victims of dangerous love. But not Anna.
The “possible life” exists, there is a way out. Rebellion is a necessity and is sometimes even inevitable. The “possibility” is in finding a daring and helpful friend, a small home where you feel comfortable, a job that may be tough but pays the bills. A future. Maybe even love again. Anna and Valerio know, they are convinced that they can do this, through will and the force of their sheer determination.
