1860, Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. While Garibaldi's troops are invading this lawless territory, four female bandits nicknamed the "Drudes" are looking for their own personal revenge.
The title “My body will bury you” reflects the original intent of this movie, which is about Errè, a woman who embodies the condition of Sicily at the very beginning of Italy’s unification. Such unification gave way to a great social and political change, taxes ended up, for the most part, contributing to investments in the North, thereby causing an economic crisis in the South. More a war of conquest than a liberation one, the peasants struck back by forming armed groups, often led by the old-guard military from the previous Bourbon Reign.
The way Sicilian swindlers resisted and opposed the Savoy occupation is striking; equally, the female swindlers – “Bringantesse”. They were just as wild and raw as the land and the time they inhabited, which in a way reminds the American border as narrated in western movies. This film is a juxtaposition between such former genre and pulp.
