Joseph Brodsky first visited Venice aged 32, and by the time he wrote "Watermark" in 1989 he had stayed in Venice 17 times, always in December. The essay "Watermark" is confessional meditation on the relation between water and land, between light and dark, between past and present, between the living and the inanimate, dreams and achievements. Watermark which would become the guideline of his staying in the city that we will try to convey into the language of cinema.
