The history of Gianni, who deserts his battalion during the Russian campaign in WWII and is hidden by a family in Piadena (North of Italy). There he falls in love with Teresa, but the armistice saw him returning to his small town in the South of Italy. Teresa reaches him there, but since he refuses her, she concocts a terrible malediction upon him which will cause grave effects.
