Italy Wins Double at Hot Docs

Italy's strong presence at 25th Hot Docs in Toronto, with record number of four entries, has been crowned by two main awards in the Palmares:
TIE! Special Jury Prize – International Feature Documentary to Wind of Swabia by Corrado Punzi.
The International Feature Documentary Jury was composed by: Gave Lindo (Chief of Staff and Senior Director of Programming for CBC), Justine Nagan (Executive Director of American Documentary, Inc.), B. Ruby Rich (Professor of Film and Digital Media and current Director of the Social Documentation MFA program at the University of California, Santa Cruz).
Jury statement: “With its epic sweep and personal details, this subtle exposé of environmental degradation wins viewers over with the unexpected power of elegant compositions and biting wit.
Best Mid-Length Documentary Award to The Call  by Enrico Maisto.
The Mid-Length Jury was composed by: Lisa Jackson (filmmaker), Brett Story (geographer and non-fiction filmmaker), Christoph Terhechte (head of Berlinale’s Forum).
Jury statement: "This deceptively simple portrait of the Italian criminal justice system at work demonstrated a formal rigor and quiet intimacy that opened up broad questions about civic duty, justice, democracy and human nature".
