EFA European Achievement in World Cinema Award to Alice Rohrwacher

The EFA European Achievement in World Cinema Award goes this year to Alice Rohrwacher and will be presented to the Italian director on the occasion of the 38th European Film Awards on January 17, 2026, in Berlin.
The award also recognizes the essential contribution of producer Carlo Cresto-Dina, who, through his company tempesta, has produced all of Alice’s feature films.
Born in Tuscany, Alice Rohrwacher graduated from the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy in Turin and from the documentary school in Lisbon, Portugal. “With a careful eye for the realities of a teenager’s life and a big heart for the countryside, she creates a unique universe for each of her films. Following the characters along their path with great sensitivity, she leaves space for all the quirky, unexpected and poetic little details. Because of all of that, Alice Rohrwacher is one of contemporary cinema’s most distinctive voices world-wide”, the EFA announce reads.
Some notable winners of the prize from the previous editions include: Miloš Forman, Stellan Skarsgård, Isabelle Huppert, Helen Mirren, Pedro Almodóvar, Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fiennes and Elia Suleiman, among others. In 2024, it was given to Isabella Rossellini.
