This year Cinecittà will host the selections of Italian films for the next edition of FIPADOC (Biarritz, January 22nd – January 30th, 2027).
François Lioret, head programmer of the festival, will be our guest to watch this year’s submissions from October 13th through October 15th 2026.
These are the main guidelines of the selections.
A film that has already been submitted last year cannot be resubmitted for the upcoming edition.
The festival includes the following competitive sections:
* International Documentary
* Musical Documentary
* Impact Documentary
* Short Film (less than 20’)
* Documentary series competition: for the first time in 2027, Fipadoc will present a competition of documentary series screened in their entirety, with a total maximum running time of 240 minutes.
The Festival then proposes also various non-competitive sections.
*A focus on documentary production from the Black Sea countries: Bulgaria, Romania, Moldavia, Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia. Eligible films are those produced or co-produced in this region between ©2023 and ©2026.
*Thematic Selection: Space. This category highlights films that explore space in all its dimensions, outer space, exploration, science-fiction, or symbolic interpretations of the unknown.
*Taste of Doc: films about food and gastronomy.

* The minimum duration must be 50 min. (except for the New Talent, Short Films and Smart sections);
*The French preview is required for the international competition, Impact and for music documentaries sections.
To take part in the Cinecittà selection and receive your free waiver code, please send a Vimeo link with English subtitles of the film you wish to submit, to our offices no later than Thursday 8th October, 2026, specifying the title, direction and duration with reference to "FIPADOC 2027 Selections".
