The Italian selections of the 77. Berlinale (February 11-21, 2027) will take place from October 20th to 22nd. Tricia Tuttle, Festival Director, Michael Stütz, Co-Director of Film Programming and Head of Panorama, and Mathilde Henrot, programmer, will watch Italian films at Cinecittà in Rome.
The films will be evaluated exclusively by the Festival selection team.
Feature films (minimum 60’) produced during the 12 months preceding the festival (from February 2026) are eligible for the pre-selections.
World premieres are preferred in all sections. European premieres are considered only by the sections Perspectives, Panorama, Generation, and Forum. 3. As of this year, a new section, Generation Premieres, will present 4 to 6 films with broad audience appeal. Presented in major venues across the Festival, these premieres are designed to introduce new and larger audiences of different age groups to the cinema and festival experience. This is a non-competitive strand, for which a submission will not be possible.

If you submit the world premieres through us you won’t pay the fee. An English subtitled link of the film must be sent to the above-mentioned addresses by Wednesday, October 14th.
