The Italian selections of the 50. Göteborg Film Festival (January 29 - February 7, 2027) will take place from October 19th to 22nd. Johan Blomqvist, Head of International Programme, will watch Italian films at Cinecittà in Rome.
The films will be evaluated exclusively by the Festival selection team.
Fiction films, creative documentaries, and experimental films (minimum 50’) have had their first public screening after June 30, 2026 are eligible.
The Swedish premiere is requested.
Films submitted to the Göteborg Film Festival’s previous editions and not selected will not be reconsidered.
The competitive sections for international films are:
The Ingmar Bergman Competition – open for feature length fiction films by first- and second-time directors.
International Competition – open for all feature length films.
International Documentary Competition – open to all documentaries with a running time of 55’ or longer.
Focuses and out of competition sections:
Gala, Masters, Visionaries, Voyage.
