Having recently been awarded the Pardo d’Oro in the latest Locarno International Film Festival, Private by Saverio Costanzo, triumphs again, in the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received even greater appraise and recognition from the general public. The film was heralded as the event of all events. The evidence of this success was even more reflected in the Film Market, as the film was sold to a total of 25 countries, which included all of Europe, and making it the highest selling film in this edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. It also received numerous invitations to participate in other major International Festivals.
The film’s foreign Sales Manager Pierre Menahem claims the film is 'unique', in the extraordinary way it handles an extremely complex and dramatic subject impartially. Put together like a real thriller, the film makes a strong political statement about the touchy Israeli-Palestinian conflict, without taking sides, and yet being completely involved.
