From October 12-17th, Washington DC once again hosts the Washington Italia-Italian Film Festival, at the same time as the annual NIAF Gala. Washington Italia - Italian Film Fest celebrates its third edition produced by the Capri in the World Institute in association with Cinecittà Holding, Lazio region, Rai Trade, in association with Union Camere and Chamber of Commerce, Naples.
Five days of screenings , 20 new and classic film titles, including Don’t Move by Sergio Castellitto, The Rest of Nothing by Antonietta De Lillo, Another Life by Michele Placido e After Midnight by Davide Ferrario) and an official screening at the Motion Picture Association of America, of The House Keys by Gianni Amelio, as well as two US premieres, (My Father by Egidio Eronico and Hollywood Flies by Fabio Segatori. Homage will be paid to Michelangelo Antonioni, Alberto Sordi and Massimo Troisi.
Among the titles being screened, Pasqualino settebellezze by Lina Wertmuller with Giancarlo Giannini who will also be attending, and lead the Italian delegation to the U.S. capital as “Ambassador” of the Italian cinema in Washington.
Also in attendance at the Washington-Italia Festival ,is the President of Audiovisual Industry Promotion, Giovanni Galoppi who commented: “It is always important that events like this window on Italian cinema in Washington, is able to promote our cinema, on a territory such as the American one, which is of considerable interest. We consider it to be profitable and constructive for the differentiated and heterogenous initiatives, joining forces with the Institutions promoted by AIP, provided their standads are high, to all have the same objective: Promote Italian cinema in the USA”.
