The 13th edition of London’s Raindance Film Festival beginning October 9th, will be presenting in the section dedicated to European cinema Tartarughe sul dorso by Stefano Pasetto, Tutta la conoscenza del mondo by Eros Puglielli, Il vestito da sposa by Fiorella Infascelli and the Italian Austrian-German coproduction Cantina by Eva Urthaler.
Tomorrow begins the 24th edition of the Vancouver International Film Festival, which will run through October 14th, and will present over 200 International titles to the Canadian audience. Among the Italian titles is Certi bambini by Andrea and Antonio Frazzi, Primo amore by Matteo Garrone, Nemmeno il destino by Daniele Gaglianone, and Gli occhi dell’ altro by Gianpaolo Tescari presented in the section Cinema of Our time; and last but not least, the documentary Un silenzio particolareby Stefano Rulli is presented in the section Nonfiction Features 2005.
Among the coproductions that will be screened, we find Hidden by Michael Haneke appearing in the Special Presentations and The Grönholm Method by Marcelo Pinyero again in the section ‘Cinema of Our Time’. Italy is also represented by the special tribute to Roberto Rossellini, featuring the screenings of Rome Open City and My Dad Is 100 Years Old, (a collaborative work by Guy Maddin and Isabella Rossellini).
The 41st edition of the Chicago International Film Festival (October 6th-20th), which has now become one of the most anticipated American events, gives Italian cinema another major welcome as Italy's presence this year is confirmed by a total of seven titles : Alessandro D’Alatri is in competition with La Febbre, while The Consequences of Love by Paolo Sorrentino, Once You’re Born by Marco Tullio Giordana e Peperoni ripieni e pesci in faccia by Lina Wertmuller will be presented in the section World Cinema. Among the coproductions in competition Gabrielle by Patrice Chéreau, in Special Presentations we find, Hidden by Michael Haneke, and in New Directors section, Well Tempered Corpses by Benjamin Filipovic.
