The film representing Italy at the Academy Awards will be Don't Tell. The commission of producers and experts has chosen the new candidate after the Americans rejected Private.
It was a long journey for this film to represent our cinema at the prestigious American prize: first there was the change in the voting procedures, with a select commission of 17 experts replacing the old system using the David di Donatello jurors numbering more than a thousand. Then the Academy sends a letter rejecting Italys first choice Private, but exceptionally allows Italy the chance to put forward a second film. This decision led another film to be withdrawn in protest - Manuale d'amore (it originally came 2nd to Costanzo's debut).
