Riccardo Scamarcio has been chosen to represent Italy and participate along with 20 other up-and-coming European actors
in Shooting Stars 2006, the special event which once again this year is presented at the Berlin International Film Festival. Organized by European Film Promotion – a network of all the European companies promoting cinema- with the collaboration of AIP-Filmitalia for the Italian participation , the three day programme is set up to launch up-and-coming actors from all over Europe on the International stage.
As a reminder, we would like to mention that Scamarcio, class of ’79, debuted in 2003 with Three Steps Over Heaven by Luca Lucini, winning the Golden Globe for Best New Actor, in The Best of Youth by Marco Tullio Giordana (Altadis Award, “Un certain Regard” Cannes 2003), and Now or Never by Lucio Pellegrini (in Competition at Locarno 2003). His most recent films since 2005 are: Texas by Fausto Paravidino (Premio Pasinetti Venezia 2005 – “Horizons”), The Perfect Man by Luca Lucini and Crime Novel by Michele Placido, mainstream of this past season.
In past editions Italy was represented by Maya Sansa, Stefano Accorsi, Fabrizio Gifuni, Filippo Nigro, Libero De Rienzo and Giorgio Pasotti.
