Paolo Sorrentino’s film The Consequences of Love, continues to be presented in Festivals worldwide. This time his film has been selected In Competition at the Bangkok International Film Festival, beginning February 17, 2006. Renewing its tradition, Italian Cinema continues to be represented in all the major International events, thanks its high professional standards together with Aip- Filmitalia’s commitment in promoting Italian cinema abroad, so that the number of films presented continues to increase each year. Indeed, 19 films along with Sorrentino’s are taking part in this Asian adventure, between our own productions,co-productions and Italian Film Classics.
The majority of the films take part in Windows on the World in which we find the Oscar nominated “Don’t Tell” by Cristina Comencini; followed by “The Tiger and the Snow” by Roberto Benigni, which is presently being presented at this year’s Berlinale. The list goes on with “Amatemi”, by Renato de Maria, “Sulla mia Pelle” by Valerio Ialongo, “The Days of Abandonment” by Roberto Faenza, “Once You’re Born” by Marco Tullio Giordana, presented at the same time in Dublin’s International Film Festival, “Sacred Heart” by Ferzan Ozpetek and “ The Life That I Want” by Giuseppe Piccioni.
Co-productions include “L’Enfer” by Denis Tanovic, “Il Sole” by Aleksandr Sokurov and “Cadaveri ben Temprati” by Benjamin Filipovic. Italy i salso represented by two prestigious documentaries, “Sergio Amidei: ritratto di uno scrittore di cinema” by Ettore and Silvia Scola, and “Ray Lema Tôt ou Tard” by Andrea Boni (in the section Reel World).
The Bangkok International Film Festival has also wanted to pay tribute to great Italian cinema by presenting two prestigious films from the past, successful co-productions like “La diga sul Pacifico” by René Clément, produced by the industrious Dino de Laurentis starring the unforgettable actress, Alida Valli; and “L’armata degli Eroi” a 1969 co-producution with France, directed by Jean-Pierre Melville with the superb acting by Lino Ventura. The Festival will end on February 27,2006.
