“Texas” in New York’s “New Directors/New Films”

At the 35th edition of the New Directors/New Films – March 22-April 2nd –in New York, young director Fausto Paravidino with his film Texas will represent Italy among the 25 titles portraying new tendencies in International cinema.
This event, presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Department of Film and Media in collaboration with The Museum of Modern Art, in the thirty years of its existence has brought to the attention of International critics such talents as : Quentin Tarantino, Pedro Almodóvar, Héctor Babenco, Terence Davies, Atom Egoyan, Chen Kaige, Spike Lee, Richard Linklater, John Sayles, Steven Spielberg, and Wim Wenders. It has established itself as the major event responsible for presenting new tendencies in International cinematography to the American audience, drawing enormous attention from the American press and attracting a loyal turnout of Film distributors.
It is worth noting that Italian cinema which had been absent for many years, has in the most recent editions earned significant attention with such high quality films like Private by Saverio Costanzo, Primo amore by Matteo Garrone, Certi bambini by the Frazzi brothers, Ballo a tre passi by Salvatore Mereu, the co-production Vodka Lemon by H. Saleem, L’imbalsamatore by Matteo Garrone, Angela by Roberta Torre and Respiro by Emanuele Crialese.
