"The cinematography in La Terra perfectly completes the film’s story : a man returns to his family’s home in his native land, Puglia, after having lived for several years in Milan. Without any frills, the movie camera takes us inside the family drama which begins to crack under the surface.”
This is what motivated the jury of the 9th edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival to assign the Jin Jue Award for Best Cinematography to Fabio Cianchetti, for his work in La Terra by Sergio Rubini, which ran in the official competition at the Festival which just ended.
Representing Italy as a member of this jury presided by Luc Besson, was director and Oscar winner Gabriele Salvatores.
