Two awards for Italian Cinema at the San Paolo Film Festival

At the conclusion of the San Paolo Film Festival’s 13th edition, Italy walks away with two major awards . The first one goes to Cristiano Bortone’s film Red Like the Sky which received the People’s Jury prize for “ Best Foreign Film”; the second award, “Prêmio Humanidade”, was assigned to director Vittorio De Seta who was invited to the Festival as guest of honour. Paying tribute to the Maestro, the festival presented an important retrospective of his documentaries which included his last work, “Lettere dal Sahara”.
Our Cinema already establishing its success this year with more than 40 titles present, half of these covering the most recent contemporary productions, with the remaining ones divided between the restrospective on De Seta and one entitled “Political Italian Cinema from the 60’s and 70’s” featuring films by Rosi, Maselli, Risi, Petri, Lizzani, Montaldo, Scola, Monicelli, Bellocchio, Bertolucci and the Taviani brothers.
