Announced at the Seville Film Festival by the European Film Academy and EFA Productions were this year’s European Film Awards 2006 nominees. Italy will also be featured among the contestants that 1700 EFA members will consider before casting their final vote on December 2nd, 2006.
Among the six finalists competing for the Best European Director Award is Emanuele Crialese for Nuovomondo, winner of the Silver Lion award at this year’s Venice Film Festival and in the running for this year’s Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Film.
Italian actor Silvio Orlando who played the leading role in Nanni Moretti’s The Caiman is in the running for the Best European Actor award.
Also in the running for Italy is Dario Marianelli competine for the Best European Composer award for his original music score on “ Pride and Prejudice “ directed by Joe Wright. A stockpile of nominations for Italian co-productions ( together with Uk/Ireland/Germany/Spain). The Wind that Shakes the Barley by English director Ken Loach, running for Best Directorm, Best Film, Best Screenplay (Paul Laverty), Best Actor (Cillian Murphy) and Best Director of Photography (Barry Ackroyd).
The E.F.A.Awards Ceremony will take place in Warsaw.
