Fausto Brizzi's Notte prima degli esami with its 998 votes received the highest number of spectator votes at this year's Mittelcinemafest held in Budapest Nov 9-18, 2006.

This festival's 4th edition was attended by an impressively large audience, mainly attracting a very young crowd. The other Italian titles screened on the programme were "Romanzo criminale" by Michele Placido, "Don’t Tell" by Cristina Comencini, "La seconda notte di nozze" by Pupi Avati, "Agente matrimoniale" by Christian Bisceglia, "Saimir" by Francesco Munzi, "Il regista di matrimoni" by Marco Bellocchio, "Manuale d’amore" by Giovanni Veronesi, "Texas" by Fausto Paravidino and "La terra" by Sergio Rubini which was screened last Saturday as the closing event attended by the film's director and screenwriter Carla Cavalluzzi. The Italian delegation also in attendance that evening included the director of Texas, Fausto Paravidino, actor Dino Abbrescia from the film Manuale d’amore, the director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Arnaldo Dante Marianacci and the Italian Ambassador Paolo Guido Spinelli.

The MittelCinemaFest was organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Budapest in collaboration with Filmitalia and Budapest Film and thanks to Rai Trade, Rai Cinema, 01 Distribution, Medusa Film, Fandango, Cattleya, Dharma 3, Duea Film, Filmauro, Filmexport, Adriana Chiesa Enterprises, Celluloid Dreams and Mokép. The festival also paid tribute to Luchino Visconti in celebration of the centennial anniversary of his birth. Some of these titles will then be shown in Bratislava and Krakow.
