Costanzo in Competition at th 57th Berlin Festival

Saverio Costanzo’s new movie In memoria di me is the only Italian film selected for the Competition at the 57^ 57th Berlin International Film Festival which opens February 8th. The film which was shot entirely within the walls of the Cini foundation’s cultural institution based in Venice on the Island of San Giorgio, explores the passages of faith in the Christian vocation. Andrea (Christo Jivkov), a well educated young man with considerable worldly experience is a novice in this austere convent who is struggling with this major life decision. However Andrea is not the only novice in this community questioning this mystery and his own freedom. Filippo Timi plays the part of the disquieted novice Zanna while Marco Baliani skillfully plays the very dry Head Priest . After hearing Berlin’s announcement, Saverio Costanzo made the folowing statement: “ I am very excited and wish to thank Festival director Kosslick and the selection committee for having assigned this film to the Competition of the Berlin International Film Festival”. The film was produced by Mario Gianani for Offisde productions, who also produced Saverio Costanzo’s acclaimed first feature Private. It is co-produced and distributed in Italy by Medusa Film. The C.E.O. and Vice President of Medusa Giampaolo Letta and Mario Gianani have expressed their great satisfaction by stating “it is also very gratifying for a producer to be in competition in such an important festival with an author like Costanzo- who is so young but already well known on the International scene-with such an extraordinary film like his.”
