Ten Italian Films at the Göteborg International Film Festival

The Göteborg International Film Festival has announced the selection of films participating in its 30th edition (January 26th - February 5th, 2007).
This year’s Italian selection is well supported by ten titles which range in national productions, co-productions and film archive. The section “First Cut” dedicated to first features will be presenting Alessandro Angelini's Salty Air while Marina Spada's As the Shadow is to be presented in “World Wide” (this film will be also competing at the next Festival Premiers Plans D'Angers January 19th-28th). The Session is Open by Vincenzo Marra and Volevo solo vivere by Mimmo Calopresti will be screened in the section “It’s all true”, while the documentary by Giuseppe Bertolucci Pasolini prossimo nostro will be screened in “Cinemania”. The Italian co-production 10 Canoes by Australian director Rolf de Heer animates the section “Old & New” while the just recent Golden Globe Winner The Queen by Stephen Frears will participate in the “Gala” section. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, The Goterborg film festival has organized an interesting retrospective in honor of its 30th anniversary which is dedicated to some of the most significant films in recent film history. This important retrospective will feature two Italian co-productions, The Circle by Jafar Panahi and Oscar winner Danis Tanovic’s No man’s land. Also featured in this same section is “Pasolini un delitto italiano” (1995) by Marco Tullio Giordana.
