The Moscow International Film Festival (June 21-30) has awarded the Best Director prize to Giuseppe Tornatore for his film The Unknown which was screened for the Moscow public in the Main Competition section.
This major acknowledgement is in addition to the number of other prizes already attributed to The Unknown Woman in other International Festivals (Prix du Public in Toulouse, Special Jury Mention in Bastia, Blockbuster Prize at the Rome Film Festival). These awards reflect the special attention our cinema continues to receive in several major Eastern European Festivals such as Moscow which dedicates a Special Focus section on Italian cinema with 6 titles from of the most recent Italian productions, and the Karlovy Vary Festival ( June 29-July 7) which features as many as 13 titles among the various sections at this years 42nd edition.
